Turtles of Ningaloo

Three turtles frequent the shores of the Ningaloo Coast annually:

We also occasionally see flatback turtles nesting on our beaches.

Leatherback turtles are also known to forage rarely within the Ningaloo reef.

That’s 5 of the world’s 7 turtle species visiting the
Ningaloo Coast!

The diversity and quantity of marine turtles nesting in this area are one of the reasons the Ningaloo Coast received a World Heritage Listing in 2011.

The Ningaloo Coast hosts an extremely diverse selection of marine turtles, which create over 10,000 estimated nests along the coast yearly!
