Recruitment is generally done around July-August (for external volunteers) and October (for local volunteers) each year. Positions advertised include:
Team Leaders
Key duties:
Coordination of remote camp logistics and organization of equipment in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Coordination and undertaking of daily morning monitoring activities.
Provide coordination and support for volunteers.
Preparation and maintenance of monitoring equipment, camping equipment and vehicles on a daily basis.
Collection and filing of data sheets, volunteer hours and progression on a daily basis.
Assistance with training volunteers.
Organisation of regular social events for volunteers.
Assistance in the final reporting process for the program, including updating Standard Operating Procedures.
Communications Intern
Key duties:
Promote the Ningaloo Turtle Program through photography, videography and audio recordings. Utilise social media, local print media, and other sources to promote turtle conservation and the NTP.
Work closely with Exmouth Parks and Wildlife Service staff to develop content and concepts leading to a works plan for the duration of the internship.
Collate and deliver all material collected and produced to Exmouth Parks and Wildlife Service.
Develop and conduct educational activities on turtle education for school children and visitors to the Ningaloo region.
Assist in the co-ordination of the Ningaloo Turtle Program, including the organisation of volunteers and participate in monitoring, training, turtle rescues and remote camping activities as required.
Assist the Team Leaders where required.
Volunteers
Key duties:
Collecting data on turtle nesting beaches.
Remote camping on the Ningaloo Reef and monitoring isolated beaches.
Assisting with turtle rescues.
