Do you live in Exmouth during the months of Oct – Feb? Do you like early morning beach walks? Well why not volunteer to be a Turtle Tracker with the Ningaloo Turtle Program!
The NTP relies on our wonderful Exmouth-based volunteers to do the pre-peak and post-peak period turtle monitoring throughout the summer months. Volunteers attend a theory session where they learn all the tricks of the trade, followed by 4 mornings of beach turtle track training to become an ‘NTP Turtle Tracker’. Then they can monitor as much or as little as they like!
Volunteers must be able to function well in the mornings (with or without coffee!), and be capable of walking up to 6km solo in soft beach sand in the heat (noting we do 5:30am starts to beat the heat and the wind). It is a truly beautiful way to start the day. You get fit, meet like-minded people and make a meaningful contribution to turtle conservation in a World Heritage-listed marine park!
No prior experience needed!
(non-Australian citizens must supply a copy of their travel insurance and visa that allows volunteering).
