Humans are just like turtles

Humans are just like turtles
We carry a lot of weight on our backs
Sometimes physically
Sometimes mentally
And sometimes in the form of a green backpack

Humans are just like turtles
We don’t always choose the easiest path,
The most travelled one,
But as long as it takes us where we need to go,
It may have been the right one all along

Humans are just like turtles
We find people along our journeys,
Scrambling up the sand dunes
Ones we may never have crossed paths with otherwise,
And they quickly become the friends we need to help us make it back to the ocean

Humans are just like turtles,
Life may knock us down sometimes,
So hard we end up upside down in a rock crevice,
But with enough determination, strength and the right people around us,
We’ll find our way home
